BSc Psychology (with Honours)

WELCOME TO MY PROFILE!

Hi! I am Danica Crawford and I am a Qualified (MSc) Integrative Psychotherapist and Counsellor, with over 10 years experience working in mental health support services.  I am warm and empathic and I offer a safe non-judgemental environment for you to explore the challenges you are experiencing. I work on both long term and short term basis depending on your needs.

I am extremely passionate about meeting people from different backgrounds, building trusting relationships and supporting individuals on their journey of change. I understand that this journey may be daunting for you but I am a firm believer in trusting the process and giving individuals the chance to grow at their own pace.  My role is to support you on this journey by proving you a safe and confidential space to express your thoughts, feelings and experiences.

About Me: About Me

MY APPROACH

I am a trained Integrative Therapist which means I am trained to be flexible with using various psychological approaches. In doing so I selectively combine aspects of different approaches to provide the most effective way of working with your needs.

My integrative approach is built on the foundations of Person Centred Counselling (PCT) which was pioneered by the late great Carl Rogers (1975). I also incorporate Psychodynamic approaches,  as well as drawing on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy techniques.

I work holistically to ensure that my clients receive the best support from our sessions together.

PERSON CENTRED COUNSELLING

Building The Counselling Relationship

PCT places a strong emphasis on the therapeutic relationship. I believe that building and cultivating a warm and safe space is the most important aspect of the journey. Therefore, I ensure that I work collectively with my clients to develop a healthy trusting relationship for change can take place.

PSYCHODYNAMIC COUNSELLING

Exploring The Past

Psychodynamic Counselling helps us to explore your past experiences e.g. childhood experiences and relationships to identify any unconscious conflicts that may be impacting your life today.  This approach aims to make you more self aware and gain an insight into the aspects of the self that were previously unknown and finding ways of doing things differently as a result.

CBT

Embrace Life’s Challenges

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) focuses on how your thoughts, beliefs and attitudes affect your feelings and behaviour, and teaches you coping skills for dealing with different problems. Together we will explore the unwanted behaviour patterns and work to change or adapt them.
